Ono Island is a natural barrier island separated from downtown Orange Beach, Alabama and Perdido Key, Florida by the Old River to the south and from the rest of Orange Beach by Bayou St. John to the north. This exclusive community can only be accessed by car in the southwestern end, where a guarded entrance provides privacy and security to residents. Many residents of Ono Island, however, have private boat slips on their property and choose to travel around much of Orange Beach by boat. The famous Flora-Bama Lounge in Perdido Key can be seen from the southern shore of Ono Island and the popular sailing route around Bird and Robinson Islands can be easily reached by Ono Island residents.
Orange Beach is a popular vacation destination due to its white sandy beaches, world-class fishing opportunities, and numerous other attractions. Ono Island is not far from attractions such as The Wharf Amphitheater, Gulf State Park, the Caribe beach resort, and a number of the best golf courses on the Gulf Coast. Residents of Ono Island enjoy living in the perfect location to attend some of the areas most popular events, such as the annual Gulf Shores Hangout Music Festival and the Flora-Bama’s annual Mullet Toss. This is strictly a residential community, offering some of the most beautiful waterfront homes in Orange Beach.
